Tsuen Wan: Incompatibility between the Old & New

Tsuen Wan, being one of the oldest new towns in Hong Kong, is undergoing a case of urban renewal, with the notable example of Vision City. Nevertheless, apart from the visual impact brought by the imposing towers, the redevelopment project has also brought many side effects to the neighbouring old areas.
Our project aims to investigate this aftermath of redevelopment and the imbalance occurring in the current redevelopment model. We have selected the two streets, Sun Tsuen Street and Cheung Lung Street, neighbouring the newly built Vision City, as our area of focus.
Throughout the course of our project, we have conducted thorough background research regarding the redevelopment project in Tsuen Wan. We have also looked back into history to evaluate the old working class society in Tsuen Wan.
In order to gain a better understanding of the on-ground situation, we have even conducted a site-visit, walking through the streets and interviewing members of that community.
