This way\u00a0of life is characterized by a process\u00a0of resource extraction, production,\u00a0distribution, consumption and waste\u00a0generation. Key questions that lie\u00a0behind the idea of \u00a0sustainability\u201d\u00a0relate to upholding this existing\u00a0system, or way of life, based upon a\u00a0linear materials economy. And, as the\u00a0argument follows, we cannot indefinitely\u00a0support a material flow of resources\u00a0on a finite planet. This is precisely\u00a0where the question of sustainability\u00a0comes into play.
