In The career Discovery in Landscape Architecture starts by ringing together new faces, diverse ideas, and an abundance of enthusiasm and provide energy. In the first module, students take time to get to know each other, reflect on their understanding of landscape systems, and learn from their peers. From the classroom to the campus, students explore the iconic building of HKU and experience landscape elements at the micro scale.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

WELCOME: Warm Up <\/h6>\n\n\n\n

#HASHTAG<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A warmup talk takes students through the whole CDLA journey. Afterwards, students work in pairs for developing #hashtags. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They respond to the question: “How do landscapes work as complex systems”<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each student comes up with one keyword which better describes its peer\u2019s answer and presents to the rest of the class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every landscape is shaped by both physical and non-physical elements: plants, materials, water, light, air, texture, sound, movement and atmosphere. In this workshop, students will explore the iconic buildings and landscape settings of HKU campus, observing landscape elements at the micro scale.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Using ink as the main medium, students will translate their site observations into abstract visual expressions. They
may use traditional brushes, or create self-made brushes from natural elements and found materials collected on
site. Through drawing, stamping, dripping, collage and dynamic mark-making, students will record the sensory cues
and atmospheric qualities of the landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
