The Runme Shaw (RMS) Edible Roof is established and run by Staff and students of the Division of Landscape Architecture at HKU, collaborating with Feeding Hong Kong, a food distribution charity. The RMS Edible Roof is a sustainable, productive roof garden that can supply a consistent quantity of fresh, organic vegetable produce for the charities programs.

The research/exercise is intended to serve both as a knowledge exchange  / community service and as a student research exercise to trial different vegetable crop species, growing environments and maintenance techniques in order to define the most effective and productive technique and to build up knowledge about the approach.

The RMS Edible Roof is approximately 20-40sqm of unoccupied roof space on the north side of the Runme Shaw Building to construct and operate a sustainable Edible Roof garden for a period of 12 months from May 2013-April 2014.
