Metro-speed Financial Hub of Mumbai

Metro-speed Financial Hub of Mumbai

Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Mumbai is the commercial and entertainment capital of India, it is also one of the world’s top 10 centres of commerce in terms of global financial flow, generating 5% of India’s GDP, and accounting for 25% of industrial output, 70% of maritime trade in India, and 70% of capital transactions to India’s economy. The city houses important financial institutions such as the Reserve Bank of India, the Bombay Stock Exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India, the SEBI and the corporate headquarters of numerous Indian companies and multinational corporations.

Mumbai government is going to develop a new business area in Bandra-Kurla Complex, to work along with the old colonial business centre Nariman Point. A new train line, funded by Mumbai government and World Bank, is planned to support this the growth and future development of the Bandra-Kurla Complex business district.

My proposal is to design an urban development, with mixed programmes such as offices, hotels, public recreational programmes, along the new train line to support the establishment of the new Central Business District of Mumbai, such that the efficiency of the business district can be maximised.
