Tide
Tide changes up and down, back and force, periodically. Our site lies in between the space and ground that fluctuates between high-tide and low tide. The cycle of tides creates scenarios of visibility and invisibility. Its directional movement (towards and away from shore) collaborates with the buoyance attribute of the sea, creating unique movement patterns that influence how materials float/sink at this in-between space.
Tide Flies
Merging the past and the future of the village with the duration of time, Tide Flies reflects the history and the culture of the Lei Yue Mun Village.
Initially, Tide Flies portrayed the bright future of the fishing industry in the Lei Yue Mun village which had once experienced the collapse of the mining industry.
But having encountered some obstacles with our initial project, our second, similar yet more developed project goes further to show how the local residents gradually interact with the bigger society and promote an optimistic cultural relationship.
