WHY 1800 years ago, the people named Cuan ruled the south of China. Among the four hundred years of their rule, they created a unique culture: Cuan culture. Qujing was the cultural center. One word, Cuan, represents a grumous cultural history. Cuan Culture plays a key role in the history of Yunnan, and leaves behind some valuable cultural things. But this culture is gradually forgotten, and even many young natives do not know such a grumous culture in their hometown. There is an urgent call for architecture to retrieve its role as a criticism or reflection to the society to prompt the people to rethink about their culture, traditions and city. WHAT My thesis want to explore how to use a new architectural device to preserve the culture, with an innovative method that can arouse the interest of the people. Cuan cultural leaves some scattering cultural traces in this area. Meanwhile, the region has a lot of natural beauty, attracting many tourists. Can we organize them together to be a system that people could have a better understanding of Cuan Culture? HOW The thesis will follow a research – summary – system building – design process. |
